

Dr Malaka Shwaikh recently contributed to major international events highlighting her work on peace, resilience, and community.
On 25 October, her keynote with Dr Svitlana Matviyenko—first presented at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM Vienna)—was featured as the soundscape for the exhibition ‘There is Nothing Solid about Solidarity‘ at the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp. She also led a workshop with artists and scholars focused on strengthening solidarity with Ukraine and Palestine.




In November, Dr Shwaikh travelled to Aotearoa, New Zealand, delivering a keynote titled ‘Expectations of Resilience’ at the International Peace Research Association conference in Taranaki (8 November). She then joined a forum with Indigenous Māori communities (9–10 November), presented a public talk at the University of Otago in Ōtepoti/Dunedin (12 November), and met with Māori and Kiwi community leaders across both islands (7–14 November).
